Johnson's Boats & Motors Rentals – How It Works
Renting pontoons can be a fun and memorable experience. Our goal is to make your time on the water happy and trouble free. With that being said, here are a few things to make sure that happens.
We are not on the water, so we bring the Pontoon to you! We set a time to drop the boat off, and pick the boat up. We meet you at the landing, go thru the boat and show you how to run it and any questions you may have!
If you have the pontoon overnight, at a rental property you are responsible for ensuring you have a place at a pier to park it safely. We have tie ropes, and bumpers on all boats.
Each rental has an availability calendar, but just because it shows as available doesn’t guarantee we can book it. With all 8 rentals plus 400 storage boats to deliver and only 2-3 delivery staff, scheduling depends on time and location. We do our best to accommodate everyone, but Saturdays fill up by spring. Weekday deliveries are much easier to arrange to fit your schedule.
Wisconsin State Law
- Wisconsin law states you must be born before January 1, 1989 in order to operate a watercraft WITHOUT a Boater's Safety license. If you were born after this date, you will be required to take the Boater's safety test before you can rent a boat. Your temporary certificate will need to be scanned, emailed or faxed to us at least 10 days prior to rental delivery date.
- The course covers all the information you'll need to know to receive your temporary boating certificate. The entire course can be taken on a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

What is included in the rental price?
Prices include, 6 gallons of gas, tax, orange life jackets, dock lines, bumpers, a safety throwable, & 2 anchors. Everything you need to get on the water!
Where can I get It delivered for free?
Buffalo Lake, White lake, Crooked Lake, Emery Lake, Kilby Lake, Montello Lake, Lake Puckaway (Northside), Tuttle Lake & Williams Lake.
Southside of Lake Puckaway does have an extra $110 Delivery. If the address has a city of Marquette Address, that is the south side.

What are your launch fees?
You are required to pay any launch fees at the Landing. Prices vary.
Can I trailer the rental?
No. We will deliver and pick up the rental.
How do I get the rental?
We deliver the rental to you at the set date/time/location.
Example:
Saturday the 23rd we will meet you at the Hwy C landing at 9:00am to drop the boat off, show you how to run it and answer any questions you may have. Monday the 25th we will meet you at the same landing at 9:00am. We understand you are on vacation and may not be paying attention to clocks, however you will be charged $10 per every 5 minutes you are late. Our delivery guys run on a very tight schedule, so please be there on time.
Delivery times?
Monday thru Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm. We do not deliver or pick up on Sundays. You must be there for us to drop it off and pick it up.
We will charge you $10 per every 5 min you are late for the pickup of the rental. Our delivery drivers do run on a tight schedule so please be on time.
Can I tube with these?
But we do have tube packages available for rent. Infant and child vests are available upon request.
Now... THESE ARE NOT ski boats, they are pontoons. Depending on how many people and how much weight you have on the boat, depends how fast they go. With that being said, for most kids they will do the trick and provide just an extra activity for the water.
The pontoons with the 60hp can pull tubes fine. They are more leisurely and more suited for smaller aged childrent 6-9 year olds that dont love getting tossed into the water.
The pontoons with the 115 HP can pull experienced skiiers, can pull teenagers and adults and have plenty of fun!
The more your pontoon weighs the slower it will be. If you have a 22 foot pontoon that fits 12 people, and you have 12 people in the boat along with 3 coolers. That will drastically be different than 6 people in the boat with no coolers. Something to consider if it is NOT fast enough for you. But for the majority of people the 115s are the perfect pulling tubing pontoons!!!
What do I need to reserve my rental?

- Give us the days you want, the pontoon you prefer, and the lake of choice!
- Driver's license number
- Date of birth
- Contact number you can be reached at during the rental period
- Credit card information
- Address of the rental location
Reservation/Security Deposit:
- **CHANGED IN 2026** Reservation deposit, is 1/2 the cost of the rental price. It is NON-REFUNDABLE - It will be charged the day you reserve the rental and is deducted from the total charge.
- $250 security deposit - Charged before you get the rental & credited back to your card minus any charges for fuel or damages.
Cancelation Policy:
- We don't charge extra for sunshine and we don't refund for rain!
- If you cancel...
- 20+ days before the rental date you only lose the reservation fee. (1/2 of the cost of the rental)
- Less than 20 days before the rental period you are responsible for the entire rental amount.
What would the extra charges be?
Please be careful and treat our boats like you would your own. Johnson's Boats & Motors is not out to make money on repairs of rentals. We do not like to charge you for any damages as much as you don't want to be charged. Any damages are YOUR responsibility. Our delivery drivers will take pictures of the boat and motor before and after your rental.
What about gas?
Only use premium non-ethanol gas
The first 6 gallons is included. You will just be charged per gallon after that (premium current market value).
Are there any cleaning charges?
We provide you with a clean boat, please return it that way. If our cleaning crew has to spend time beyond a general cleaning, you will be charged.
Do I have to clean the anchors?
Please rinse off any mud, weeds & sand from anchors before placing them back in the boat. Otherwise if you pull it straight out of the water it will have mud or weeds on them. If that enters the boat you will be charged extra for cleaning.
